Stop describing your screen.
Screenme captures, marks up and records your Mac. Then it packs the result for whoever reads it next: a teammate, or an AI agent.
Focus the demo and use the arrow keys to move the crosshair, Shift for single points, Space to set a corner, Return to capture, Escape to cancel.
Mark it up. Change it next week.
Arrows, boxes, highlights, numbered steps, text, blur, pixels and spotlight. Close the editor, reopen the capture days later from History: every arrow is still an arrow you can move.
Redact Sensitive Info
One click pixelates emails, phone numbers, cards, IBANs, keys, IP addresses and faces.

MP4 or GIF, with your mic, system audio and webcam when you want them. Clicks and keystrokes can show on screen, and ⌥⌘D lets you draw on it while you talk. Then the editor zooms in on your clicks, and can smooth the cursor and put the video on a background.

Speed up the whole clip. Your voice keeps its pitch.
Or 1:1 and 4:3. Export H.264, HEVC or a GIF with its own width and frame rate.
Don't write the bug report. Record it.
Talk, click, circle what's wrong. Screenme transcribes you on this Mac, cuts a keyframe wherever something happened and copies one report: a numbered contact sheet with your words under each frame. Paste it into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.

An upload to your own bucket when you share a link. A git fetch from your clone when you check for updates.
Free. Open source. Yours.
There is no notarized download. You build Screenme from source on your own Mac: one clone, one script. Read every line first if you like. The copy you run is yours, and so is every change you make to it.
# XcodeGen generates the Xcode project $ brew install xcodegen # Build, sign locally and install in /Applications $ git clone https://github.com/mariomile/Screenme && cd Screenme && ./scripts/install.sh
Needs macOS 15 or later, Xcode 16 or later and XcodeGen.
The script builds a Release copy and signs it with a certificate that lives on your Mac, so the Screen Recording permission survives every rebuild. Updates come from the menu: Check for Updates pulls the new commits, rebuilds and restarts.
On first launch macOS asks for Screen Recording. Accessibility, microphone, camera and speech recognition only when you turn on what needs them.
